Pennymore Quillet BRP NPS PBA PBWR Pennymore Stud started in 1996 to introduce the Riding Pony Breed to Sweden.  Under Swedish Law all stallions had to be approved for breeding as a prerequisite to competing.  SH rules welcomed everyone and said "if your stallion is good he will be passed".  Pennymore had Horse of the Year Show stallion Strinesdale Matador a rising start at the time who became a legend in his own lifetime topping the stallions ratings every year until his death in 2010.  We were allocated to the ASRP to approve our Riding Pony stallions because they would register any pony who didn't already have an own stud book keeping society, which we did not.   The British Riding Pony (BRP) is the UK's performance pony representing GB and Ireland in the FEI European Championships in both Show jumping (taking Gold 11 yrs out of 12yrs) and Eventing taking Gold, Silver or Bronze 16 times out of 24, with Gold this year. The ASRP did not include the BRP in their breeding programme and therefore would not approve our stallions.  Clearly this law was an impediment to my stud and to the BRP Breed.  An application to SJV for an own Breed society was rejected on the grounds the ASRP would register ponies with out an own Breed society.  This was taken to court in 2002.  At the same time the EU took up my case and ten years later with SJV wasting millions of tax payers money defending a case they knew they could not win, were eventually ordered to remove this law which was seen as an obstacle to trade.  2006 heralded a new start for Pennymore.  Rotherwood Tarantella (Strinesdale Matador/Rotherwood Gazelle) was purchased along with a colt foal Royalview Razzamatazz Overall Supreme Foal at the Pony of the Year Show.   Then a bombshell.  SJV removed avelsvärdering (compulsory genetic test) from the legislation but turned a blind eye to it remaining in the rule books of the Breding Societies.  Nothing had changed.  Astonishingly SJV's home page actually encouraged these societies to keep a ruling that was comdemned by the EU. Under are the ponies we've bred in readiness for the Swedish market for the day this State created system is removed.  I am proud to breed stunningly beautiful ponies with springs in their feet, speed, agility, sensitivity and good minds in the knowledge that I am breeding ponies that will excel in all disciplines. I believe an animals welfare is greatly enhanced if it is both beautiful and can do well in a variety of sports.  I greatly admire and am grateful for the excellent breeding gone before from which I can base my stud's work.   In 1995, the first year Strinesdale Matador became available through frozen semen, we used him on the family pony mare Roseborg's Positiv, before the Stud mares became of age.  Posie, a Welsh Section A produced two very quality foals by Matador, proving quality would come through quickly if you used an absolute top stallion in your breeding.  Needless to say used on an equal quality mare the result would be stunning.  Pennymore Mandalay and a Pennymore Juniper Berry (under)are both quality Show Hunter/Working Hunter ponies.  Mandalay has qualified to jump Nationally in Denmark, (good luck Heidi at the National Championships in August!) and Pennymore Juniper Berry has gone to a new home, Stall Bjärka-Säby South of Lindköping.  Best wishes and all success Mica and Juniper! Strinesdale Matador ex Roseborg's Positiv.   Pennymore Mandalay (first backed) Strinesdale Matador ex Roseborg's Positiv.   Under.  Spinningdale Wedding Bouquet, by the famous Westacre Concerto, Sire of Pony of the Year, Show Hunter Pony of the Year and Working Hunter Pony of the Year (Show jumping over rustic fences) and countless Champions, ex Fenwick Queens Holiday by Dawnway Minstrel Man.   As Seen  today 13yrs.     Shown 4 times as a 2 yr old in Sweden.  Won 3 times taking the Youngstock Championship each time, EXCEPT at the ASRP Riks Show in Bollerup where under Judge and ASRP Chairman, Ylva Loven Sward and Judge Hans Backeval, Ylva Loven Sward made a special example of her.  Over the loud speaker she told the audience "this is absolutely NOT the sort of pony we want in Sweden" and placed her second!  It made a mockery of judging having to explain why she was placing the obvious winner and the only Breed pony there, second.  She was announcing the ASRP's policy, refusing the RP Breed access in Sweden.   This not bad enough, she then proceeded to be rude to my young helper (12 yrs old, in tears after) who was showing a Welsh pony (Section B of Modern RP Type, new to Sweden) in foal to a BRP stallion (an example of bloodlines used in a closed stud book for RP Breeding). I wrote a letter of complaint to the ASRP and to SPAF for appalling conduct by a judge.  Nobody responded.   This Spinningdale mare had three top class foals (under).  Pennymore Quillet by Strinesdale Matador.  Won in the UK on his 1st outing Riding Pony Breeding.  Produced by Julie Templeton. Two ponies who look identical doing different jobs.   The Family pony Roseborg's Positiv (Welsh Section A) Put in foal to Strinesdale Matador, produced a Show Hunter/Working Hunter type.  Here, her first foal Pennymore Mandalay 1997, now in Denmark.
