 Breeding as seen on these pages can only be achieved through pure competition.  When SJV abolish avelsvärdering (Sweden's unique system of stallion selection) to comply with EU law, we too can breed to compete.  Let's hope that day will come soon.

Tribute Strinesdale Matador 1990 - 2010 Sadly this February Strinesdale Matador died.  Riding Pony breeders the world over came to recognise just how important he was to the Breed.   He became a legend in his own lifetime and his influence on the Breed has been second only to Bwlch Valentino.  You can always recognise stock by Mattie, through their outstanding quality, athletic movement and each possessing his wonderful character.  He produced Champions in so many disciplins, he will be greatly missed. Both have qualified for HOYS (Horse of the Year Show)  For Swedish readers not familiar with the standard needed to Qualify for HOYS, only the top 27 ponies in the country qualify.  Qualifying is the big test.  Pennymore Isadora was 8th at HOYS. Välkommen till den Brittiska Ridponnyrasen i Sverige...... ......och dess relation till ridponnier och sportponnyavel i Europa. All ridponny- och sportponnyavel är beroende av en sund basrasavel. Europeiska sportponnier har alla BRP/Welsh avel bakom sig. Det är livsviktigt att raserna, huruvida det gäller British Riding Pony, Welsh, New Forest eller någon annan "ingrediensras" som används, hålls skyddade. Att hålla raserna rena i Sverige genom att följa moderföreningens regler är erhört viktigt (se Brittiska Raser)   Den Brittiska Ridponnyn har varit selektivt avlad i 130 år från en genpool av yppersta klass och vi har idag ett underbart utsökt kvalitetsdjur som är kapabel att vinna på toppnivåer i banhoppning, fälttävlan, dressage likväl som i utställningsringen.   Dagens uppfödare, alltid medvetna om förändrande tider inser människors önskan för inte bara ypperlig kvalitet men också stora extravaganta rörelser och styrka, strävar att producera mångsidiga djur som kan utmärka sig i alla sfärer.  Den Brittiska Ridponnyn är för ponnyvärlden vad Fullblodet är för hästvärlden.  Idag vill vi ha allt, att avla bäst i ras och den ideala sportponnyn, allt i en ponny!   Den Brittiska Ridponny Sportponny är SP, SHP &WHP Small-Land Maymaster. 148cms NPS. Show Pony (SP), Show Hunter Pony (SHP) and Working Hunter Pony (WHP).  Alla typer kan vara och är sportponnier. Precis som med alla raser har olika ponnier olika egenskaper. The BRP wears different "clothing" for the different jobs they do.
